Welcome to this 1.57 acre oasis full of mature fruit & nut trees, tropical flowers, & a charming plantation home. The home was originally built in 1922 & has been lovingly maintained through its time & is now a host to its beautiful surroundings - an organic permaculture garden!
Originally built as a dance hall, some of the plantation home's striking features include 10ft ceilings & a fantastic dining room great for hosting. Separate from the dining room is the living room, & off the living room you can access the three bedrooms & the full bathroom w/ clawfoot tub (additional 1/2 bath located in the primary bedroom). The kitchen is adjacent to the dining room & features a pantry space, concrete countertops, & two large sinks (cooks will appreciate this!!). Off the back door from the kitchen is a porch that leads to an outdoor sink & steps down to the fenced in herb garden, the outdoor shower, and laundry facilities below the home.
The grounds feature many Macadamia Nut Trees - including the regrowth of the oldest recorded Mac Nut Tree in all of HI and the US. Additionally, there are jackfruits, bananas (rare varieties), eggfruit, cacao, coffee, mountain apple, lychee, avocado, lilikoi, mangos, many different citrus, white pineapple, loquat, & so much more (list of edible food trees/plants available upon request). Next to the home is a shed to keep all your tools/equipment and dry your nuts — included w/ the sale is a macnut husker.
This is arguably the most ideal elevation (approx. 850ft) along the Hamakua Coast, sunny but cooled by trade winds, and just enough rain for gardening. Plants thrive at this elevation. Located on the Honokaa Waipio Rd just about half way between Historic Honokaa Town and Waipio Valley. Honokaa has restaurants, galleries, shopping, theater, medical clinic, & more. Approx. 20 minute drive further to Waimea w/ world class restaurants, hospital, & highly regarded private schools.
